Attendance
School Attendance
Regular and punctual attendance ensure your children have full access to the entire curriculum without missing out on key learning opportunities available to them. Please ensure your child attends school and arrives on time.
Registration/lateness
School gates open at 8:40am. Class Teachers complete the register by 9am in the morning and by 1.05pm for the afternoon. If a child is not in for registration, they will be marked as not present (Code ‘N’).
Registers will close at 9.30am and 1.35pm (thirty minutes after they are open).
Any children that arrive at school after 9am will be marked as late in the attendance record. Any child that arrives at school later than 09::30 will be marked as having an unauthorised absence.
Illness
If a child is unwell and cannot come to school, their parent/carer should call the School Office to inform us before 08:45. If we do not receive any contact from a parent/carer as to why a child is not in school then we will call home to check the reason for their absence.
Leave in term-time:
Requests for holidays in term time will not be authorised. If the holiday is taken anyway, the case may be referred to the Attendance Service who may issue a Penalty Notice to each parent for each child taken out of school.
- From August 2024, the fine for school absences across the country will be £80 if paid within 21 days, or £160 if paid within 28 days. This rate is in line with inflation and is the first increase since 2012.
- In the case of repeated fines, if a parent receives a second fine for the same child within any three-year period, this will be charged at the higher rate of £160.
- Fines per parent will be capped to two fines within any three-year period. Once this limit has been reached, other action like a parenting order or prosecution will be considered.
